Frances Manuel was born February 7, 1940 to the late Robert and Fannie Harris. She departed this life on Sunday, June 23, 2019. Frances is proceeded in death by her husband, Henry Manuel, Jr., five brothers and one sister.

Frances is survived by three daughters, Tracey Cousins, Yvette Reed, and Mindy Manuel; one sister and brother-in-law, Fannie and John Mosley; seven grandchildren, Antoine Harris, Tywan Manuel, Tyrell Manuel, Francis Manuel, Brittany Christopher, Jarek Reed, and Jarquasia Reed; devoted friends, Vonda Tillman, Cheryl Prosser, and Dottie Prosser; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Frances worked for the Peter Paul Development Center for many years as the lead cook. She prepared delicious meals for the seniors on a weekly basis. Not only did she get rave reviews from the center about her culinary skills, but she also received praise from her family and friends especially for her fried chicken, corn bread, and pound cake.

Frances was not only known for her cooking but her straightforward candor. Her no nonsense demeanor sometimes led to uncomfortable truths. People always knew where they stood with her because she said what she meant and meant what she said. At the same time, she never met a stranger. Frances served as a counselor, confidante, mentor, mother, and aunt to many people that she encountered. She always offered advice that was free of pretense and deceit. Essentially, Frances’ honesty is what people loved most about her.
