Jill Yvette Roots was born on December 30, 1964 in Richmond, VA., to Augustus and Catherine Roots. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Luedona; brothers, Victor and Alvin; nephew, John; niece, Catherine; Jill transitioned to her heavenly home suddenly to us, but Jesus and her heavenly father were waiting with open arms on February 1, 2018.

Jill’s education was received in Richmond Public Schools, graduating from Armstrong High. Continuing on line college courses in Business Administration, striving one day to own a cleaning service. Want it clean? all you had to do was call Jill!! Her acceptance of Christ at an early age shined throughout her life and caring heart.

Jill enjoyed life and was an open book!! Straight and to the point, even if she used those “choice words” to tell you!! A light in the community, Fairfield or wherever she resided, everyone loved Jill or as some would call her that “Red Girl”!! She was proud of and loved her girls, Sophia and Sorena. They blessed her with the light of her life, her five grandkids. They all lived together bonding in unbreakable joy.

Jill was also the baby sister that was protected in love by her sister and brothers. Jill , we all remember your life’s trials and tribulations, but once you were set “free” you used them to teach and encourage those in “bondage” to look to you as an example of how your life can be turned around in a positive way.

Jill enjoyed working. She had several jobs in the workforce but enjoyed being a care taker most of all and of course her cleaning skills. As we all will remember, Jill was Jill! Remembering her our memories will make us laugh, sometimes cry, sometimes shake our heads, sometimes use those “choice words”, but most of all love her all the time!!

Jill leaves to cherish her memory her beautiful daughters, Sophia and Sorena; grandchildren, Calvin Howell, Shaniya Tisdale, Khayla Howell, Cha’Miya Tisdale and Jonae Boulware; sister, Deborah (Robert) friend; brothers, David (Creola) Williams, Carroll (Angelia) Roots and Carlton (Angie)Roots; sister-in-law, Diane (Alvin)- deceased; devoted great niece and nephews, Antonia, Antonio and Arzon Cheatham.

She has a host of truly devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends who will miss her. We pray that our walk through life will allow us to see you again one day. Our family thanks each of you who impacted her life in a positive way. “God Bless”. Her friends were many and she loved and cared for each one dearly. She knew you all felt the same way about her.

The family also appreciates the care that was administered by the VCU Medical facility during this time, medically and spiritually. We thank God for dispatching her “Angel” who intervened and helped her get the assistance she needed. The family is forever grateful for your blessed deeds.
