On the morning of July 5, 2019, Rose Clayton of Richmond, Virginia passed away at the age of 87. Rose was born in Enfield, North Carolina to her mother, Lula Silver and father Amos Silver. She was the 15th child born to this union. She was educated in the Halifax County School System. She transitioned to Richmond at an early age, where she completed Business school. She later met Richard Clayton and they married soon thereafter. She attended Mount Tabor Baptist Church and served in various capacities: Choir, Deaconess, until she was no longer able to attend due to health reasons.

She worked for Reynolds Metal Company and after 30 years of faithful employment, she retired. Rose was a very private, independent woman of adventure, grace, and style. She loved the Lord, and she also loved gardening, traveling, writing poetry, writing in her journal, and shopping.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents Lula and Amos; all 14 of her siblings; and her husband of 38 years, Richard Clayton. She is survived by one stepdaughter, Carol Blue; a host of nieces and nephews, including her dedicated niece Doris Harvey (Winston); Yvette Ward; her nephew, William E. Webster Jr. (Ivey), and a dedicated village of family and friends.
