Aubrey Dean Flippen quietly went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2018. He was born on May 30, 1950 in Danville,Virginia to the late Juanita Benson Flippen and Wiliam A. Flippen.
Aubrey joined Wesley Chapel A.M.E.Zion Church, Danville Viginia, as a young child and continued his membership there as an adult. He was a staunched supporter of the church.
Aubrey graduated from John M. Langston High School located in Danville,Virgina. He furthered his education at Virginia State University, receiving a bachelor’s and master’s degree In Social Work.
Aubrey was employed for 32 years by the Department of Social Services Richmond, Va. He was also an adjunct professor at Virginia State University and worked for the Virginia Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program(ASAP).
He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Alpha Phi Chapter Fraternity; Black Social Worker’s Association, Club 533 and a member of Thebians. Aubrey was a member of the Virginia State University Tennis Team, serving as captain. Later in life, golf became his passion.
Aubrey is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Diane Flippen; son, Shannin (Renarta); grandson, Dashawn; granddaughter, Marneice; also his loving siblings,William (Vickie), Evelynn (Jerome), Terry (Ronnie) Celia (Fred); two aunts, Lillie Jennings (Sylvesta) and Jean Lloyd who he loved dearly; two nieces, Traci, Tiffani(Will) and three nephews;Tensley(Tahren), Timothy and Ronnie T; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
