Obituary

Edward “Pete” Jackson Jefferson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend slipped from this world on Dec 29th, 2017. Edward Jefferson was a native of Ensley, Alabama, born on December 1, 1937, to the late Annie Lee Houston Jefferson. He moved to Powhatan, VA with his family in 1941. He graduated from Virginia Randolph in the class of 1957, as a star athlete. He played football and baseball throughout high school and also while in the service.

After graduating he join the Air Force in 1957, where he served a tour of duty in Germany and France. After which he enlisted in the Marines Corp where he achieved the rank of Sargent and was honorably discharged. In June of 1971, Edward Jefferson started working for Continental Trailways as a bus driver until he retired in 1987. After retirement Edward Jefferson relocated to Birmingham Alabama where he began his retirement and moved back to Philadelphia, PA in 2009.

In April of 1964, he united in Holy matrimony to Claudette Lee Jackson, this union was blessed with 3 boys and one girl. Edward joined the Greenbrier Baptist Church in Powhatan VA in 1949 before being baptized by Elder Charles Cheatham and joining the Ebenezer Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1981, where he sang in Ebenezer Sanctuary choir for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents Annie Lee and Houston Sylvester Jefferson, He was survived Claudette Jefferson of Philadelphia, PA, Three sons Kevin Jefferson ( Budesse) of Wytheville, VA, Calvin Jefferson (Pam)of Philadelphia, PA, Xavier Jefferson ( Cassander ) of Midlothian, VA. One daughter Linda Gibson ( Jimmy) of Philadelphia, PA. Two brothers Jesses (Bobbie) Jefferson of Richmond, VA, Randolph (ChoCho) Jefferson and wife Cindy Jefferson of Richmond, VA, Two Sisters Beatrice Ellis and husband Eddie Ellis of Richmond, VA, and Ester Bell and husband John Bell of Huntsville, Alabama. 15 grandchildren, Hakeem Jefferson , Kahri Jefferson, Donta Jefferson, Chant’e Edwards, Charisse Edwards, Daylen Edwards , Charnai Jefferson, Tajah Brooks, Nickel Simpson, Brickel Jefferson, Cierra Jefferson, Xavier Jefferson Jr., Jamea Hill, Glenn Franks Jr, Eric Best Jr., and 17 great grandchildren Tyler Jefferson, Donnell Jefferson, Amorn Jefferson, Serinty Jefferson, Zyaria Jefferson, Zavon Jefferson, Daymer Smith, Kira Edwards, Zion Edwards, Cymore Smith, Ah’minah Jefferson, Megan Brooks , Aniyah Franks, X’drian Franks, Maria Franks, Bo Franks , Chloe Franks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and Friends whom he cherished dearly.
