Obituary

On August 28, 2019 at Beaufont Rehabilitation Center, God called home our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend; Emma Clay, affectionately known as “Boo Mom”.

She was born February 5,1926 in Pleasant Hill, N.C. to the late Hobart and Lucy Coleman. Emma received her formal education in the Greenville County school system. At an early age, Emma assumed the role as a mother figure by, taking care of her younger siblings. She eventually moved to Richmond where she pursued a career in hospitality at MCV, later retiring from the Sheraton Hotel.

Emma was united in marriage to Wallace Clay for 50 years and Within that union, they raised four girls and four boys. Her interests included gardening, cooking, yard sales and scrap booking. Emma had immense love for her grandchildren and family. She was a great caregiver, a loving giving person who was always willing to give you the last dollar she had.

Along with her parents and husband, Emma was preceded in death by five children, Holland, Jr., Lloyd, Shirley, Daniel Blount and Diane Harrison. Left to cherish memories two daughters, Marketer Lester and Peggy Greely; one son, Roy Blount; one brother, Milton Coleman (Maria); one aunt, Roselee Johnson (Samuel); twelve grandchildren, fourteen great - grandchildren, seven great -great -grandchildren; one devoted son -in law, Kenneth Harrison; one devoted nephew, Lisher Greenway; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
