Obituary

Robert “Bobby” Copeland, also known as, the Bird Man, departed his life on March 6, 2019. He was born on May 18, 1960 to Mae Ella Washington Copeland and the late Henry Copeland. Bobby was educated in the Richmond City Public Schools and graduated from Armstrong High School. He worked for Bristol Steel for 12 years as a crane operator, a job in which he loved. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Cedar Street Baptist Church of God under the leadership of the late Dr. Benjamin W. Robertson Sr.; where he also worshiped and served on the usher board until his health failed.

Bobby had an affectionate spirit, was full of life and loved to laugh and make other people laugh; but most importantly he loved his family. Before he fell ill, Bobby enjoyed playing basketball and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and didn’t mind talking trash to you about it too.

Bobby is survived by his devoted son Robert “Tweety” Johnson, two granddaughters, Ra’Asia and Ra’Yona Johnson, one great granddaughter La’Asia Johnson, a loving and supportive mother Mae Ella Miller, one devoted brother Elder Reese Washington Sr., two loving sisters Brenda Champ and Debbie Turner, one loving sister-in-law Browyn Washington, one devoted brother-in-law Joenathan Turner, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
