Our hearts were deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved one, Zenobia Rowe Robertson, who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

Zenobia Maxine Rowe Robertson was born in Richmond, Virginia. She accepted Christ as a young girl and was baptized at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Richmond Virginia. She later joined Thirty-First Street Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. She was educated in Richmond Public Schools.

Zenobia, more affectionately known as “Mac” to her sisters and “Zee” during college, was a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She became a kindergarten school teacher and retired from Henrico County Public Schools. She was very much loved by her students, many of whom remembered her fondly when encountered throughout her retirement.

Zenobia was a devoted daughter, big sister and aunt. During retirement, she was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching and traveling to sporting events with her family. She was an ardent VCU Rams fan.

She was preceded in death by her father, Julius S. Rowe, Jr., mother, Delores Ampey Rowe and her brother, Jerel L. Rowe.

Maxine leaves to cherish her sweet, sweet memories five deeply devoted sisters, Karen Y. Watkins (Maurice), Cheryl R. Shackleford (Ronald), LaWanda, Angela and Kimberly Rowe; two nephews, Maurice “Corey” Watkins, Jr., and Brandon Shackleford; one niece, Kolandra W. Sykes; one great-nephew, JaeShawn Watkins and one great-niece, Lyrik Watkins; she leaves to cherish her memory a host of cousins, devoted among them, Barbara Johnson, and other relatives and friends, devoted among them Albert Chambers, Jr. and Angela Barnes-Hargress. Her legacy of courage, generosity, strength and sweet spirit will live on in the hearts of her family. And to her sisters, she will always be remembered as the strongest woman they have ever known.
